NYAGATARE: Vehicle intercepted transporting sacks of smuggled second-hand clothes

The Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) has impounded a vehicle in Nyagatare District, which was transporting nine sacks of smuggled second-hand clothes commonly known as caguwa.

The omnibus vehicle registration number RAB 987A, was intercepted on Wednesday, November 2, in Nyagatare II, Rwempasha Sector.

The Police spokesperson for the Eastern region, Superintendent of Police (SP) Hamdun Twizeyimana said that three people, who were aboard the vehicle belonging to Speranza Group Limited, a local liquor manufacturing company, were also taken into custody.  Read more...

Police extends fire and road safety awareness to pupils of St. Adelaide School


The young ones are among groups that Rwanda National Police (RNP) targets in its ongoing fire and road safety education campaigns.

This is aimed creating awareness on fire safety and what to do in case of fire as well as safer road usage.

This Thursday, November 3, the Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB) and the Department of Traffic and Road Safety, extended fire road safety education to pupils of St. Adelaide School located in Niboye, Kicukiro District, when they visited the RNP General Headquarters at Kacyiru for an educational tour, in company of their teachers.  Read more...

RULINDO: Police warns against illegal mining


Police in Rulindo District cautioned communities living near mining concessions to refrain from illegal mineral exploration and to work with security organs against such unlawful acts.

In the latest operation conducted on Friday, November 4, Police, local leaders and other security organs arrested four people in Rutongo cassiterite mining concession located in Buliza Village of Mugambazi Cell in Murambi Sector.  Read more...

FIGHTING DRUGS: Police seize 11kgs of cannabis, one arrested


One person was arrested on Thursday, November 3, in Police operations against drug dealers.

Over 11kgs and 339 pellets of cannabis were also impounded from suspected dealers in Burera and Kayonza districts.

One Uzarama Cyuma, 54, was arrested in Burera District, Rwerere Sector in Rugali Cell, Gatovu Village with 1kg and 339 pellets of cannabis.  Read more...

RUBAVU: Taxi-moto operators rallied on security


Taxi-moto operators in Rubavu District were called upon to be security sensitive and to work with the Police and other security organs to fight and prevent crimes.

The District Police Commander (DPC) for Rubavu, Superintendent of Police (SP) Jean Bosco Karega made the call on Friday, November 4, while meeting about 400 commercial motorcyclists in Gisenyi Sector.

SP Karega reminded them of their duty to maintain security and to report anyone they suspect to be engaged in criminal activities.  Read more...

NYARUGENGE: Police, local leaders seize over 1600 litres of illicit brew


On Monday, October 31, Police and local leaders in Nyarugenge District seized 1680 litres of illicit brew from a producer in Kigali Sector.

The psychotropic drinks commonly known as Ibikwangari, were recovered from the home of one Dany Irihamye alias Kazungu, 34, of Nyabikoni Village in Nyabugogo Cell, where he was operating an illegal production plant.  Read more...
