RUBAVU: DIGP Namuhoranye urges Police officers on professionalism

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Felix Namuhoranye visited Rubavu District Police Unit on Wednesday, August 10, where he urged officers to always be on alert and professional in their policing duties.

DIGP Namuhoranye, while addressing Police officers attached to the Rubavu DPU, reminded them of their duty to ensure the security of people living in Rwanda, particularly those in Rubavu.  Read more...

RNP up against cyclists holding onto trucks

Rwanda National Police (RNP) cautioned cyclists against deadly practice of holding onto rear of trucks on hilly roads in which some of them have lost lives.

RNP spokesperson, Commissioner of Police (CP) John Bosco Kabera said operations against this risky human behaviour started on July 28, and so far a total of 486 cyclists have been intercepted and fined accordingly, across the country. Read more...

Man arrested doing driving tests for three candidates


A suspected impersonator identified as Schadrack Mayisha, 40, was arrested Friday, August 12, at Muhima Computer-Based Driving Test Centre in Nyarugenge District, where he was attempting to do theory driving tests for three candidates.

Mayisha is an instructor at one of the driving schools in Kigali.  Read more...

Dealers in used electronics commit to work with Police against related crimes


Dealers in used electrical and electronic equipment welcomed the government's decision to establish regulations governing their business and committed to work with Rwanda National Police (RNP) to fight related crimes.

The regulations came into force on July 11. Since then, the regulator, Rwanda Inspectorate, Competition and Consumer Protection Authority (RICA) and RNP have launched campaigns countrywide to elaborate the regulations to those already in this business as well as the general public.  Read more...

KAYONZA: Three arrested with 10kgs of cannabis


The ongoing Rwanda National Police (RNP) operations to break the supply chain of narcotic drugs led to the arrest of three dealers in Kayonza District on Sunday, August 7, with 10 kilogrammes of cannabis.

Police identified the suspects as Abouba Nsengiyumva, 23, Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana, 21, and Martin Nkurikiyimfura, 18, who were arrested in Busasamana village, Byimana cell of Ndego sector.  Read more...

RWAMAGANA: Duo arrested with counterfeit money


Rwanda National Police (RNP) warned people, who are either engaged in counterfeiting money or circulating fake tender notes, and called upon the public to share information on anyone they suspect to be involved in these economic crimes.

The warning follows the arrest of individuals in different operations, after they were found in possession of counterfeit monies as they tempted to fleece unsuspecting members of the public.  Read more...

NYARUGENGE: Police seize skin bleaching cosmetics worth over Frw8 million


Assorted outlawed skin bleaching cosmetics commonly known as mukorogo, worth over Frw8.1 million were seized from a dealer, who was arrested in Nyarugenge District on Thursday, August 11.

Eugenie Tumusabinema, 45, was arrested in Nyarugenge Sector, Kiyovu Cell, Nyarurembo Village where the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Anti-smuggling and Organized crimes (ASOC) recovered 2,841 pieces of skin whitening products in her store.  Read more...
