Nyamasheke resident arrested with 80kgs of cannabis

Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Friday 19, arrested a woman identified as Marina Nyirahabimana, 33, in Nyarusange cell, Kirimbi sector in Nyamasheke District with three sacks of cannabis weighing 80kgs.

Nyirahabimana was arrested at about 5am following a Police search at her house located in Mushungwe Village, where the three sacks of cannabis were recovered.  Read more...

Assorted narcotic drugs disposed of in Nyamasheke and Nyagatare

Assorted narcotic drugs, including 200kgs of cannabis and 1,120 litres of kanyanga, an illicit crude gin have been disposed of in Nyamasheke and Nyagatare districts, respectively.

The destroyed narcotics were seized in varied Rwanda National Police (RNP) conducted in the two districts.

RUBAVU: Taxi-moto operator arrested for violating curfew, attempted bribery

A taxi-moto operator in Rubavu District was arrested on Monday, February 15, for attempting to bribe a Police officer.

Afrodis Twagirimana, 26, was first caught for flouting the curfew and other government COVID-19 prevention guidelines when he tried to bribe the officer enforcing the directive with Frw2,000.  Read more...

SOUTHERN PROVINCE: Scores arrested in increased operations against illicit drinks

Increased Police operations against people producing illicit brew in the Southern Province led to the arrest of nine people, who were operating production plants.

The separate operations were conducted on Sunday, February 14, in the districts of Kamonyi, Gisagara, Huye, Ruhango and Nyanza where the nine suspected producers were arrested with combined 1200 litres of Muriture.  Read more...

GISAGARA: Police, local leaders in operations against illicit brew

Police and local authorities in Gisagara District have seized 840 litres of illicit brew from different distillers and local bars.

This was during coordinated operations conducted on Saturday, February 13, in the three sectors of Mamba, Gikonko and Mukindo to fight production, sell and consumption of illicit drinks. Read more...
