695 Police officers sit for UN tests

Six hundred ninety-five Rwanda National Police Officers on Wednesday started week-long United Nations peacekeeping pre-deployment tests in Kigali, a prerequisite to any officer to serve in a mission.

The candidates include 208 females. The tests also known as Selection Assistance Assessment Team (SAAT), organized and supervised by officials from the UN include computer, language proficiency and driving.

All the candidates passed the first level – Pre-SAAT – organized by Rwanda National Police, to test their capabilities in missions.

“It’s a pride to Rwanda and RNP in particular for being recognized as a competent country to join the ranks of bringing and maintaining peace in other parts of the world,” said Senior Superintendent (SSP) Toussaint Muzezayo, Director of Peace Support Operations (PSO) in Rwanda National Police (RNP).

Rwanda, which is among the highest contributors of peacekeepers, maintains about 600 Police officers in eight missions, including the South Sudan, Haiti, Sudan and Mali.

The UN recognized Rwanda for her outstanding performance and professionalism in missions.
