Police FC move closer to ‘Peace Cup’ finals

Police football club have at least one leg in final of the 2014 Peace Cup after registering an impressive 4-2 win in the semi-final first leg against Sec Academy on June 11 at Mumena ground.

Two goals from defenders; Amani Uwiringiyimana and Gabriel Mugabo, and a Sina Jerome brace were enough to make the law enforcers favourites to tussle with either APR or Kiyovu for the trophy in the finals.

Uwiringiyimana put the Police side in the lead in the 17th minute of the first half but Sec’s goal through Danny Usengimana’s few minutes later canceled the lead. But Mugabo’s header in the 34th minute to tap-in a free-kick doubled the lead.

In a first-half Police-dominated match, striker Sina Jerome scored the third and fourth goals in the 40th and 45th minute respectively to go into rest 4-1.

Sec pulled back in the second half through Isaac Muganza to make it 4-2.

Police FC coach, Sam Ssimba, however, wasn’t happy with his defence.

“I am not happy because we conceded two goals and I am going to put in much effort to correct the defensive errors,” Ssimba said after the match.

He is, however, optimistic his side will even win the second leg to storm the finals.

Striker Sina Jerome also promised to give Police FC a silverware in this competition.
