Police move closer to handball league championship

The Police handball club has moved closer to their third national league title in four years with a 42-20 win over Nyakabanda in a match played on July 1 at Kimisagara youth centre.

The Labour Day and Genocide memorial champions continue to rule the league table with 30 maximum points, five ahead of second placed, ES Kigoma.

Gilbert Mutuyimana and Gilbert Nzibonera scored eight goals each while Norbert Diteterimana scored six goals to keep the law enforcers in favourites to win the league and to continue the season unbeaten run.

Police coach, Assistant Inspector of Police Antoine Ntabanganyimana said, shortly after the match, that he is optimistic of becoming the league champions.
