Police wins to move up to seventh position

Justin Mico and Japhet Imurora scored a goal each on Sunday as Police Football Club beat Nyamagabe-based Amagaju to register its second win on the third day of Azam National premier league.

Mico, who signed for Police from AS Kigali before the close of the window, broke the deadlock in the 35 minute of the first half.

Imurora added the second goal 14 minutes after the break to make it 2-0 final score.

The law enforcer dominated throughout the game and on several occasions came close to scoring more goals but they were denied by Amagaju goalkeeper.

The second win, the sixth in all competition under head coach following a slow start of the season, saw Police FC climbing five places on the table to the seventh position with six points, three behind surprise table leaders Sunrise.

Police FC spokesperson, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Jean de Dieu Mayira said that the players are in good health and ready to continue tussling for the league trophy.

“These are just three games played and we still have a very long way to go. We need to stay focused in each and every match and players to have the discipline of football,” he said.

Police hosts Gicumbi on the fourth day this coming Friday at Kicukiro stadium before hosting Mukura on November 19th, hoping to build on the good performance so far.
