Seninga urges players to refocus

Police Football Club coach, Innocent Seninga has urged his players to “employ a fighting spirit” to make this season’s Azam National Premier League “remarkable.”

In a post match interview with the media following last Saturday’s 1-all draw with Kirehe on Day 8, Seninga praised the team’s performance so far, but hastened to add that they will strive to rectify some loopholes that make them vulnerable.

“We have so far played seven matches, won four, drew twice and lost once. This is a convincing performance that we need to build on,” said Seninga.

Despite a slow start losing to current table leaders – Rayon Sport – in the opening match, the law enforcers rapidly picked up the pieces to make six unbeaten league matches so far.

In the draw against Kirehe, the coach said: “It’s not a good result to us and we are very disappointed but we have to move on and try to bounce back in the next game against Pepiniere.”

The draw left Police in second position with 14 points while Kirehe also stayed in sixth place with 11 points after seven rounds of matches.

The Police coach is counting on players like the fast-rising youngster, Dany Usengimana, to lead the club to a remarkable season.

The 20-year-old striker was last season’s top scorer and has so far scored six goals in seven games including a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Musanze, making him the joint top-scorer alongside Etincelles’ Kambale Salita.
