Police extend lead in Handball league

Police Handball club has extended five-points clear on top of the national league to increase chances of adding a third trophy in their cabin this season after claiming both the ‘Labour Day’ and ‘Genocide Memorial’ cups respectively.

The Police side beat second-placed ES Kigoma 29-22 on June 14 to register 21 maximum points in seven matches.

Gilbert Mutuyimana was at it again to score ten game-high individual goals as the law enforcers kept in lead from start to end.

Team coach, Assistant Inspector of Police Antoine Ntabanganyimana hailed his side for the “good game display.”

“You will always want to claim maximum points from your immediate competitor to reduce their pressure and I am happy we did that today,” said AIP Ntabanganyimana.

“We are able to make these achievements through vigorous training, team spirit and discipline on and off the pitch,” he added.

This, he believes, will guide them to league championship this season, the third in four seasons.
