FOOTBALL: Sibomana Papy joins Police FC

Police Football Club has signed Patrick Sibomana Papy from Tanzania's Yanga SC.

The Rwandan winger signed a two-year contract with the law enforcers on Tuesday, according to Police FC Secretary-General, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Maurice Karangwa.

He becomes the eighth new signing for Police FC, and according to CIP Karangwa, the club has concluded the signings for this transfer window.

"Sibomana is an experienced and multi-purpose player, who can play in the wing and upfront. We believe he will add value to the team," CIP Karangwa said.

He joins a list of other seven new players in the team, namely; the pair of Eric Rutanga and Eric Iradukunda (Radu), who joined from Rayon Sports, Faustin Usengimana from Buildcon FC of Zambia and Evode Ntwari from Mukura VS.

Others are Martin Fabrice Twizerimana from SC Kiyovu, goalkeeper Kwizera Janvier Rihungu, who joined from Bugesera FC and Uwiduhaye Aboubakar from Heroes.

"We have acquired the players we needed to fill the void in the team and Sibomana is our last signing in this transfer period, but we are likely to promote our young players from Interforce to join the senior team," CIP Karangwa said.

Police FC also extended contracts for five players although six others were released.

Players, whose contracts were extended include strikers; Osée Iyabivuze and Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye, wingers Jean Paul Uwimbabazi and Olivier Usabimana, and goalkeeper Habarurema Gahungu.

Gahungu, whose contract had one-year left, was extended for two more years, Iyabivuze for two years while others signed for three years.

The six other players, who were released by the club include striker Isae Songa and winger Cedric Kubwimana, whose contracts were terminated on mutual consent while the quartet of Eric Ngendahimana, Mohamed Mpozembizi, Celestin Nshimiyimana and Issah Bigirimana were released following the expiry of their contracts.
